This first Fam Friday of the year kicked off February 24, 2023! We’re coming off of a successful Spring Summit ‘23 and are pleased that this Fam Friday was just as a dope. If you missed it, you missed out on insightful discussions and practical advice for navigating the tech world and the current economic climate and a chance to win over in $1k giveaways for participants.

This installment of Fam Friday was focused on topics such as layoffs, hiring freezes, Black History Month, and early academic success. Domane Rodney of Morgan Stanley led a session titled Navigating the Tech World as a Black Engineer, where he discussed the challenges and opportunities for black engineers in the industry. Ivonne Roberts of BILL, on the other hand, provided tips on how to deal with layoffs and hiring freezes through her session, Self Advocacy: Dealing With Layoffs and Hiring Freezes.

The highlight of the evening was the student panel, which was hosted by ColorStack's Community Manager Nyasha Francis. The panel discussion, titled "How to Secure the Bag," featured students who shared their methods for landing internships and job offers within the tech industry. Attendees got to hear firsthand accounts of how to stand out in a crowded job market and network effectively to achieve their career goals.
