Our March Fam Friday event in honor of Women’s History Month was a huge hit with computer science students and tech enthusiasts. The sessions were jam-packed with insightful and exciting talks, featuring women members and partners of ColorStack.

After we started the day with a bang, we jumped into the Women on Wall Street: A Day in the Life of a Jane Street Software Engineer session. The talk opened our eyes to the world of finance and software engineering from a woman's perspective. Following that, we got to chill at the ColorStack Social featuring some amazing women ColorStack members and ColorStack's Partnerships Coordinator, Liana Dominique. Both of these sessions presented great opportunity for attendees to learn the obstacles women in tech face and what we can do as a collective to make a difference.

The highlight of the event was the fireside chat with ColorStack's Founder/CEO Jehron Petty and ColorStack's new hire, Head of Engineering Rami Abdou. They shared their journey from becoming best friends in college to Rami being the backbone of support behind the scenes during the early stages of ColorStack to now being an official member of the team. Jehron also shared the story behind the name ColorStack, and Rami gave us a sneak peek into the exciting new system they are building to collect data for ColorStack. This new system will allow us to get better insight on how to best serve our members.

To wrap things up, we ended with the Understanding your Job Offer session with Cambridge Mobile Telematics. Attendees got a better understanding of how to read and evaluate job offers in the tech industry. They also learned about helpful resources that can be used to empower women to better negotiate and get paid their worth.

Overall, the Fam Friday event was full of great news from ColorStack and provided a space for women studying computer science to learn, network and be empowered.
